I'm currently sitting through 9 hours a day of ITIL v.3 training, kindly paid for by my employers. You may have heard of ITIL. Your employer may wish you to take this training too. If so, and depending on your speciality, I have some advice for you.

For Management Types - ITIL will allow you to identify your key performance indicators, enabling you to use best practise procedures to create an agile and proactive, not reactive, service delivery forum.

For Everyone Else - WTF! Seriously, this has to be some sort of joke! The bulk of it is common sense, wrapped up in Birtspeak, and appears to have been invented to keep people from actually doing the jobs they are paid to do. If you can possibly do so, avoid it at all costs. If you have to, contract Typhus or something. If you have any sort of technical nous, you wil want to, as one of my fellow attendees suggested, "bring a sharp knife for the afternoon session and take up self-harming". Apparently, a "blame culture" leads to a lack of productivity in a support environment... No, not blaming the idiot users who cause 95% of our problems leads to a lack of productivity...
